Reflection. It’s good to take time and reflect. Reflect on changes that have occurred, reflect on successes, reflect on possible missed opportunities, reflect on life in general.
It’s only be taking the time to reflect that you can center yourself and prepare for the future with, hopefully, a fresh perspective and a clear direction.
It’s been one heck of a whirlwind few weeks both for Johnny Magory and myself! Committing to writing a blog has forced me to really think and reflect on what we’re doing (Johnny and myself) and where we’re going!
So to summarise my reflection, in the last month I’ve:
- Got married
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Became a member of Guaranteed Irish
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Participated in Kinsale Literary Festival
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Received the first ‘real’ copies of “Johnny Magory and the Wild Water Race“
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Been shortlisted for the CAP Awards 2017 and attended my first awards ceremony
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Been interviewed live on KFM Radio with Ciara Plunkett
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Held my official book launch at the Naas Canal Festival – on a real life barge!
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Been interviewed live on Dublin City FM – Listen back here
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
- Packed and posted millions (and millions) of envelopes
Pause for breath… It short, it’s been crazy! But on reflection, it’s been amazing. I’ve met so many brilliant people (big & little ones) and been to so many brilliant places (near and far). And although millions and millions of envelopes seems a bit exaggerated, it feels that way to me and its brilliant!
So what have I taken from it?
Well number 1, I couldn’t do this without the professional help I have and the personal help I have.
Professionally, Gillian B, my VA, is a true driving force behind Johnny Magory now. I’ve never met anybody as organised and as meticulous as Gillian, exactly what Johnny Magory needed.
Personally, my husband, children, family and friends are the other true driving forces. They help with all aspects from tirelessly listening to draft after draft of the new books to packing, editing video’s, handing out leaflets, posing as models, packing and unpacking the car and tanking around my merchandise at events! Thank you all, you know who you are!
Number 2 is that once I remain open to all opportunities and conversations, ‘things’ will happen. I’ve adapted a new approach of not instantly saying ‘no’; something I would have previously done. This new ‘yes/maybe’ approach has changed things drastically both in my Johnny Magory life and in my home life (although I believe the children have copped on and are beginning to use this to their advantage e.g. asking for sweets first thing in the morning… Ehhhh, NO!!). This is something I recommend all people to try, even for a day and see what happens.
So, what’s next for my new found ‘fresh perspective and clear direction’?
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas (yes/maybe)…
Hopefully pack and post millions (and millions) of new envelopes
And then…
New Year, new book (yes/maybe)…
Hopefully pack and post millions (and millions) of new envelopes
And then??? (yes/maybe)…
